Timelapse
Clouds... from René Schmidt on Vimeo.
For some time now, i wanted to shoot some more photos and videos, especially timelapse videos.
Timelapse are individual images put together into a video, very often you see them in nature programs in small sequences. For example. clouds rolling across the landscape.
How to do it:
You shoot many photos with a fixed interval between each image.
Here is an example; 800 images with a 3 seconds intervals.
In this way you get about 40 minuts of reality into just 33 seconds of video.
(Films and videos are displayed with 24-25 photos per second in the format; PAL. for most european countries. In the US and France they use 30 photos per second i the format NTSC)
It is my plan to make these films/videos with a DSLR. (Digital single-lens reflex camera)
I will use a Canon EOS 500D camera.
In advance, I made some exercises on my IPhone 4 to get an overview of how long time there should be between each photo, in different situations.
By now, you can find a lot of apps in iTunes App Store that can make timelapse sequences.
The one I like the most is simply called "Timelapse"
This is their website;

You can download it from iTunes here;
http://itunes.apple.com/dk/app/timelapse/id301050966?l=da&mt=8
I don´t remember the prize but i think It is a good idea to pay a little for your apps.
The free apps don´t have as many features.
In this app you can choose if you want it to make the movie for you, or you want to save each image for post-processing, or both. Great advantage.
More on post-processing later...
The movie above was made as little exercise on iPhone 4.
The interval between each photo is 3 seconds.
To do a timelapse movie on a DSLR camera is a different story and setup but i will show you later.
